Frequently Asked Questions

What is Screen Glide?

Screen Glide is a native screen recorder app for macOS that helps create professional screen recordings without complex video editing.

What can I record?

You can record a full display, a specific window, or a selected area (cropped region on a chosen display).

Which macOS permissions does Screen Glide need?

Screen Glide asks for Screen and System Audio Recording (to capture your screen/windows/displays and system audio) and Accessibility (to help detect window geometry and cursor location). It requests Microphone and Camera permissions only if you enable those for a recording.

Can I record system audio and my microphone?

Yes. Screen Glide supports system audio and microphone audio capture (if a microphone device is available). In the editor/export flow you can also choose to include or exclude recorded audio sources.

Can I include my webcam in the recording?

Yes. If you record with camera enabled, Screen Glide records a separate camera track and lets you show/hide the overlay, move it, resize it, adjust roundness, shadow, and optionally mirror it.

Does Screen Glide capture the cursor, clicks, and “cursor-follow” zoom?

It captures cursor data separately, which enables editor controls like show/hide cursor, cursor sizing, and cursor-driven zoom & pan behavior (and a toggle to disable zoom & pan).

What editing can I do after recording?

Screen Glide includes an editor with a timeline where you can trim, split and delete video clips, and add and edit zoom/pan clips. You can also adjust cursor, camera overlay, background/canvas styling, and audio inclusion for the final export.

What export formats and resolutions are supported?

Exports are MP4 with resolutions like Original/Native, 720p, 1080p, 1440p, 4K, 5K and 8K. The codec is chosen based on hardware: HEVC (H.265) on Apple Silicon, otherwise typically H.264.

Can I cancel an export once it’s started?

Yes. Export shows progress and you can cancel rendering mid-way.

Is there a money-back guarantee?

Yes, we offer a 14-day money back guarantee. If you're not satisfied with Screen Glide, just email us at support@screen-glide.com within 14 days of your purchase, and we'll issue a full refund—no questions asked.

How does licensing work, and can it work offline?

Screen Glide supports license activation. It validates licenses online, then supports an offline grace period (7 days) based on the last successful validation. You can also deactivate the license for a Mac from the app.
